Thy Will Be Done

I’ve found myself in a strange season. Yet, I’m certain it’s God’s will that lead us here. It’s been a difficult season full of heartache, but also so much growth. It’s been undeniable how he’s moved in and around us.

As always I find myself praying for discernment regarding his will. But his will is not for me to know. You see we in Romans 12:2 we are told “you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” It’s up to us to take steps and tune our hearts to his guidance. Don’t get me a wrong, a step in the wrong direction, will NOT change God’s will for you. We are not that powerful my friend. Ultimately, God’s will will always prevail.

That being said, do you trust God? Yes, right? Then, do you trust his will for you? I mean time and time again he has shown me his way is better than mine. He’s always put me in the right place at the right time, and everything always works out for the greater good.

So why am I sitting here so afraid? Afraid of more heartache? Afraid of more difficulties? I struggled with this in my heart as we endured this season of uncertainty. One day it occurred to me, I can trust God’s will and still be a little afraid of what it may contain. As he was preparing to endure the humiliation and pain of his crucifixion Jesus, in Matthew 26:39 prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

Trusting God’s will for your life doesn't mean being unafraid. It’s knowing with complete confidence that he will carry you through, and that everything is a part of his plan. A plan we cannot comprehend. A plan that is ultimately for your good, either later on in the life, or the next.
